About Our Organization
About Our Organization Lupus is a cruel and mysterious autoimmune disease. Its cause is unknown and there is no cure. In autoimmune diseases, the immune system turns against parts of the body it is designed to protect. This leads to inflammation and damage to various bodily tissues and organs. Lupus can affect many parts of the body, including joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and brain. Symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening, and vary from patient to patient. They also mimic other diseases, making lupus very difficult to diagnose. The Lupus Foundation of America, Pacific Northwest Chapter is an active partner with the National Lupus Foundation of America. The Pacific Northwest Chapter is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered in Washington State, serving Washington and Oregon. We are passionately committed to serving lupus patients, their loved ones, and healthcare providers. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for all those affected by lupus through programs of research, education, advocacy and support. That is our mission; that is why we exist. Our vision is a life free of lupus. With your help, we will be able to strengthen and expand our programs of advocacy, education, support and research. Each dollar you raise provides hope, and offers assistance to over 56,000 people with lupus and their loved ones in the Pacific Northwest. Thank you for joining us. Thank you for each step you take as together, we raise lupus awareness, offer educational and support programs, and raise research dollars that one day, might yield a cure for this devastating disease.
