Walk to End Lupus Now, Pacific Northwest Events!
Portland: September 13, 2014
Washington: September 13, 2014
The Walk to End Lupus Now is conducted nationwide by the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) and its national network to raise money for lupus research, increase awareness of lupus, and rally public support for those who navigate life with this devastating disease. Each year, thousands of people across the country join forces with the LFA and walk to improve the quality of life for all those affected by lupus.
Lupus is one of the cruelest, most mysterious diseases on earth--it strikes without warning, has unpredictable, sometimes fatal effects, lasts a lifetime, and has no known cause and no known cure. It is more pervasive than people think, and impacts people on a scale that the public does not realize. People like you are now becoming aware of how urgently resources are needed to fight lupus, and to help those who suffer from it. By joining forces with us, we will not have to concede victory to this terrible disease. With your help, we will be able to solve the cruel mystery of lupus in our lifetime, and end its destructive impact upon millions of lives.
This year, the Pacific Northwest Chapter merged the Seattle and Pierce County walks, and we will be holding one big Walk to End Lupus Now at Seattle Center, the symbolic heart of Washington State. We have also changed venues in Portland to that cityís beautiful and centrally located Waterfront Park. By holding our Walk to End Lupus Now Events at highly prominent parks in our regionís two largest cities, we spotlight lupus as a major disease deserving the utmost attention.
Please join us! We can and we will succeed Ė with you by our side!
1. Register* - Start a team, join a team, or sign-up as an individual.
*Each registered individual raising $100 or more will earn a t-shirt for their efforts. To ensure you receive your t-shirt, funds must raised and entered into your personal fundraising page by Sunday, September 5th.
2. Raise money - Set up your personal fundraising page and share your story. People will be more likely to give if they know why you are walking and how important this cause is to you.
3. Spread the word - Tell everyone you know what you are involved in and why, then ask for support. If you don't ask, they can't say yes.
4. Walk - Come together with all people who are supporting this event and celebrate all the hard work in raising essential funds and spreading awareness of lupus.
Thank you so much! We look forward eagerly to working together with you to make our chapterís 2014 Walk events highly successful. We are so very grateful for your participation.
